The dog clearly knew the way. I think that his owner had taken him there many times (our loop was only 11km). Perhaps last Saturday the owner was not able to walk the dog, so the dog walked himself. He did enjoy "the hike". He didn't mind deep snow - would jump into it several times, but he led us where earlier someone had left footprints in the snow.
