I had no sooner ended participating in macfit@macfit Olympics than I entered a new season of poliac@poliac Golden League.

The 19th season of poliac@poliac started last Saturday. In the two previous seasons I had finished 3rd. Both times I had been helped by dogs temporarily under my care. This time I have to manage without 4-legged friends.

The kick-off was good, two wins over sk1920@sk1920 and danmaruschak@danmaruschak. Now I have three former champions in a row - bucipuci@bucipuci, browery@browery and manuvert@manuvert. Bad timing for me, as a) I am busy and b) I will be travelling to Denmark for the “long weekend”. So I expect losing these three matches. But next I will have 5 days off work and I am not going to spend the time sitting at my laptop. Although Denmark doesn’t have any mountains (the country’s highest point is… the top of a pillar of the bridge that connects Fyn and Sjæland), I am sure I can make significant steps on flat too. So I will put some pressure on my opponents and hope to come victorious on most days of my long weekend.

This time last year I had had a long hiking vacation and had made upwards of 40k steps almost every day. Since I had my long PTO this year in May and have only a couple vacations days left, I will be loosing in the year to year rankings published by pjansen@pjansen. The long poliac@poliac season (34 consecutive days!) is an opportunity to up my step counts and minimise the losses. Not to say it’s an excellent way of staying active.
