A Random Act of Kindness. My Actifit Report Card: March 31 2024

Second day of my Easter hike was 30km with +1800m of total elevation gain. At about 1/3 we stopped for a little rest. It happened to be next to a small chapel. People had just left after the Easter morning service. One old lady, the chapel keeper, left as the last one. We asked if we could refill water. She not brought bottled mineral water but also treated us with Easter cakes and coffee. Amazing!

About 2/3 into the trail, we had another pause, this time on a large montane meadow. It was wonderful to be able to take off boots and socks. Last day of March was unusually warm. And we were at 1100m asl, normally there should snow!

I did find snow eventually but not before I had climbed to 1300m asl. Patches of snow at that altitude. But for my final descent to the mountain cabin, I did need to use crampons.

I had a fantastic Easter Sunday!
