My hiking party were 7 2-legged tourists and Pedro who moves on 4 legs. We did 20km, with 750m of total elevation gain.
Pedro is an excellent hiking companion. He doesn’t bark unnecessarily, he is not interested in passing tourists and doesn’t jump to poodles. The dog is not mine, but I held the leash the whole day. If I ever decide to have a 4-legged friend, I’ll be aiming at someone like Pedro.
One caveat- Pedro doesn’t understand why the 2-legged companionship pauses at viewpoint and discusses which peak is which. So boring…
