Yesterday I posted photos with a beaver I had spotted in the river in my city. The river is semi-regulated there. Quite high earthen banks protect humans from floods. Simultaneously this creates a perfect habitat for beavers.
They dig entonces to their “homes” underwater and then dig diagonally up to Crete their living quarters. This requires high river banks. Normally beavers fall trees to raise water level. But in my city humans did the job (artificially high river banks). Beavers are smart creatures. Why build a dam? They don’t need a dam. So they live quite happily here.
I have to say that do fall trees. But for a different purpose - young thin branches are a delicacy for them. Obviously they cannot climb the trees, so they.use minimal effort to cut down young trees. It doesn’t create any danger for people. Nice cohabitation.
