Ruins of the Tenczyn castle. My Actifit Report Card: August 22 2021 [PL/EN]

Miała być wyprawa na drezyny rowerowe z Podopiecznym, ale znowu się zbuntował na aktywność poza miastem. No to pojechałem sam do Krzeszowic i zrobiłem sobie spacer do ruin zamku Tenczyn.

[EN] I had had different plans but ended up walking to Tenczyn castle ruins.

Ród Tęczyńskich niegdyś rozdawał karty na dworze królewskim. Ogromne posiadłości w Małopolsce. Jedna ze starszych rodzin, na dodatek z tytułem hrabiowskim. Tylko król był ponad nimi. Chyba…

[EN] The Teczynskis used to be powerful barons in Poland. Since Middle Ages they served the kings of Poland (or was it the other way?)

Jednakże, jak często bywa, fortuna przemija i pojawiają się nuworysze. Taki los nie oszczędził Tęczyńskich. Rod wymarł, włości przejęli inni a sam zamek, niegdyś duma rodziny, został spalony i splądrowany przez Szwedów. I już nigdy nie wrócił do dawnego splendoru.

[EN] As it often happens, all families and fortunes pass away and history brings new names to the front. So it happened to the Teczynskis. The last male descendant died, the castle went into the hands of others. Eventually the pride of the family was burnt and plundered during a Swedish invasion. The castle was never rebuilt.
