I finally decided to join this challenge as 1000 Bucks is good money to spend on a couple of good things that I still dream of doing over one weekend. This is my first time to join here and this is my plan. I live in Spain each winter and that is because we wanted to escape the cold Central Europe. Vienna is our homebase but the animals here are well taken care of. We do have animal shelters which need donations, but I always think of the poor animals not only in Andalusia but the whole of Spain. There are shelters there for abandoned animals, shelters for dogs and cats as well as for donkeys and horses and other pets which have been left on the streets because they have grown too big and were not cute anymore. These shelters need donations.
I intend to do if I would have the 1000 USD to spend for the weekend is to buy dog and cat food as well as bed materials and donate these to the shelter. I can choose one shelter which is near our area. The money can help the poor animals to have food for a while because most of shelters in Andalusia are being ran privately. We have a group of private individuals in Andalusia who are so concerned about the dog and cat situations in the campo (countryside).
So that is my plan..On one weekend I would buy animal feed and beddings as much as I can or donate the 1000 USD to the shelter so that they can sterilize or do neutering of the animals. One thing I would also like to do is to help the animal rescuers to find sponsors to escort the dogs at the airport (in transporting them to the plane) to their forever homes to the rest of Europe.
