That is one good measure...but you still have to be careful especially when you are alone. Thieves have their way of entering a house or apartment. I have a neighbor in Spain who is a mason, all his windows are with bars except for a storage with metal door. The thieves damaged the door and ransacked all of his expensive tools. Always be on alert and if you catch them on the scene, tell them to take what they want and ask them to leave before they hurt you.
