I´d like to introduce you to a small area in the 22nd District. This is now our home district that is near the border of Lower Austria on the East side of the city of Vienna. We moved here a year ago and we like it. It has all the amenities/infrastructures such as huge Mall, Parks everywhere, a big hospital , great transport system, banks , schools and many more. Also we are close to the National Park which is walking distance from home.
We´ve been out after lunch at 31°C headed to my husband´s bank to clarify matters about opening a new bank account. So while he was transacting business with the bank employee, I walked around the small Plaza and took these images. The area is called Siegesplatz ( Victory Plaza) and this area is a significant one because here, Napoleon Bonaparte lost his first major Battle in Europe in a war called Battle of Essling (Bataille d'Essling).
The lion has been the symbol of winning this battle so they have placed the lion´s statue here to commemorate this event. Thus, the inscription says:
Once you travel to Vienna, you will notice the cleanliness of the streets. Seldom will you see litters because the locals are disciplined enough not to throw anything on the streets. Besides, the city officials see to it that the city is well maintained, after all, taxpayers pay a lot of taxes.
The complete verse reads :
St. Martin´s Parish Church
As we have Summer now, flowers are all over so I also took photos of them.
I hope my Walk made you Smile.!
