Hello everyone !
Today, I will share the story of a project that took me so long to finish. At a young age of nine, I already knew that I had been fond of crafting of any sort. I watched my neighbor crocheted a blanket and that inspired me to make curtain laces for our windows. When I was a freshman in college, I always went to the library in between class breaks looking for american crafting books and magazines.
I scoured the book shops in the university belt as well on my way to the bus station. In one of these shops, I was flipping the pages of an old magazine and I saw a floor rug with a lotus design. I studied it carefully and it was with a graph pattern. I knew that I can make it using the crossstitch version. I bought the old magazine and began transferring the design painstakingly by hand in a graphing paper. I used 8 graphing papers because I want to make the pattern bigger for my eyes.
When the materials were complete including the thread, I began to stitch. After I stitched half of the design, I got bored and stopped it for a while. It was just there untouched for more than a decade that I forgot about it.
And then, when I went to Europe, I brought it along with me and little by little I did almost 3/4 of the pattern when the thread ran-out. I couldn麓t find the right color or the same DMC thread, so I used a similar shade to the one I already used. It was even better that the color was different because some petals could have different hues particularly when the light is falling on them in reality.
I finally finished the whole design after a very long long time and I am glad I made it which I think is a big achievement in cross-stitching.
