I got into a conversation with some close buddies and we talked about what thing was the most important in life. It was a pretty long conversation and almost everyone had a different opinion of what they felt was the most important thing in life. Our answers varied from good health, money, purpose, relationships e.t.c. but I understood we had all different answers because we've had almost completely different experience of life itself.
With everyone's opinion being said, I concluded that there were three things that are the most important in life and no matter your race, religion, tribe and age, we all sort these things and want them for the rest of our lives. If one of these was missing, an average human feels incomplete and there's an unending urge to find these elements no matter how unbothered we may appear about them to the outside world.
Good Health.
"Health is wealth" they say and we don't know the value of our health till we're struggling with an illness. I told my friends Good health was what I felt was the most important in life and life could feel like a war if one had just a defect / illness affecting any part of their body. With good health comes hope for other beautiful things life has to offer and only a person who's healthy is truly happy. I've been opportune to interact and counsel people suffering from different illnesses during and after my youth service and I just can't help but appreciate good health more than any other thing in life. Although not many people made the choice of their health status which is so unfortunate, but taking responsibility and being consious of one's health is so important and can't be over emphasized.
Purpose
Living a life with purpose is one of those things I feel makes life worth more than we can imagine. Purpose itself is a state of consciousness of the reason why we exist and our role on Earth. I understand this may sound more spiritual than logical but living without knowing where we belong, not doing what makes you happy and not doing the things we love could make life seem like a hell. Many people currently live with no ambition or motivation and so life seems so meaningless to them. Finding our purpose in life is quite easy but requires taking bold decisions that could forever change our perspective of life for good.
Healthy And Strong Relationships
The saying that "No man is an island" resonates it's true meaning as we grow older. Our life was given to us as a result of a relationship between humans and cells. Life itself has no meaning without people we can trust and can rely on. Our family and close friends makes life worth living and I honestly can't begin to imagine life without them. Yeah, life is also full of nasty and back stabbing people, but we can always make the choice to know who to build our relationships with and to trust them with our hearts. I think healthy relationships gives life a meaning and complete the puzzle of the most important things in life.
I could only advice anyone seeking a happy life to sort for all I mentioned. Might be tough doing so, but trust me my friend. Life is more beautiful and worth living when you have them.
