since I was born, I haven’t had the chance to work in many places and I will say hive is the third place I will be working at. So, I will say I haven’t taken care of a lot of things by myself as my parents always support me with whatever I want growing up.
But as I grow up and get older, I tend to start taking care of some little things by myself either my personal things or some things that I might need in college like buying materials and paying for some department dues that don’t involve a lot of money.
Even with all this, I still have someone supporting me in some stuff that I might need either my personal needs or anything that involves college which I am grateful for because not most people have that kind of opportunity.
So let’s talk about the first thing that I bought with my money and paid with my money.
After graduating from high school I was tired of sitting at home doing nothing because all I do after then is just wake up, eat and watch movies. After the end of each very day, I felt like I am being useless and unproductive for myself as I was not doing anything at home.
Then I meet a friend in the market one day and we exchange pleasantries. We talk about our plans as we have graduated from high school and the university we are planning to gain admission into. Then that’s how the discussion of her work as a teacher at a primary school came on and immediately I pick an interest. I ask her if there is a vacancy and maybe I can apply and she replied by saying I can. I was very happy and I quickly talk to my father about it. At first, he didn’t allow but after I persuade him and tell him I will be earning for myself. He reconsiders it and permits me to work.
I wrote an application letter to the school and I was accepted and put in charge of the nursery class. I will say it was great being a teacher to the pupils as my time there was well spent and I learnt a lot along the way as it was a Montessori school.
The time to collect my salary came and I got paid #8,000 which is $17.16 in dollars. I paid my title, and use #2,000 out of the money to buy uncooked rice which I later cook and eat with my family.
And yes, I use the rest of the money to buy novels for myself. Then I can’t go a day without reading novels and it’s one of the things that I enjoy doing. The novels were the first major thing that I ever bought for myself and I paid for them with the money that I earn.

How do the novels help me?
Some of the novels taught me great life lessons and some of them improve my diction as I learnt one or two vocabularies from them.
