My older brother called me this morning. His voice had a touch of anxiety, and even though he opened with his usual “Hey… what’s new?” — I could tell something was off.
“You okay?” I asked.
“I just got laid off…” There was that unmistakable tone of disappointment.
We talked a bit more, and of course, I brought up Hive. He already has an account, but he’s never really seen Hive as anything beyond a speculative bet. I think that might finally be changing, though. And if I can truly onboard him, I believe Hive would benefit a lot.
See, my brother is a senior developer. He’s worked on massive projects for some pretty big companies — and his last gig was with blockchain.com. That stint turned him into a full-on Bitcoin maxi, but I think I’m starting to break through the maximalist fog.
Now, I know some people don’t get all that excited about new devs joining Hive. There’s this weird idea floating around that we have “enough.” And honestly? I don’t even know how to respond to that. It’s like thinking you’ve got enough oxygen in the room because you’re still breathing. We don’t need a few more devs — we need thousands. Millions. Of every background, every perspective, every voice.
Because Hive isn’t a blogging platform. There’s a blogging platform on Hive — that’s a huge difference. What we really have here are building blocks. Tools to build just about anything. And the best part? Each one of us is a shareholder in the block factory. So if more people come and start building, we all win. It’s a win-win-win. And then win again, just for good measure.
I’m going to reach out to a few project leaders on Hive. I want to see if I can cast the Hivean spell on my brother’s brain — but I might need some help making the magic stick.
Anyway. Here’s to hoping.
