Hey folks, yeah Monday is a busy day and now Tuesday have a nice day. I want to write a little about POB photography, even though sometimes I have lost my passion to manage POB photography. Below, I will write a little about the reasons why I lost my passion for managing POB photography. So a few days ago I'm contacting on discord, I told him that I would stop making contests in POB photography for now. And he told me that stopping contests in POB photography would not be a problem, but he told me to keep managing POB photography. Sometimes I think, I've spent a lot of time thinking about ideas for a POB photography proposal, and now I want to leave POB photography or don't want to manage it anymore. I've been trying to reflect on this, and am now determined to keep trying to manage POB photography no matter what.
So what is the reason I lost my passion to manage POB photography? I see too many posts on POB photography that only paste a few photos, then they write very short descriptions. And they earn 15/20 POB on posts like that than those who write long posts. I've discussed with about this, that posts like that really irritate his eyes, and mine includes. But we can do nothing but not provide curation for such posts, even though other curators provide curation on such posts. And we can't tell them to stop making posts like that, it all depends on each one of us awareness to keep the POB platform clean from farming. I made a minimum rule of 150/200 words, because I don't want them to do farming in POB photography. But now it has happened even though this is about photography, but I think a description that looks a little longer is more important and also the context that fits the image is also very important.
Let's take a look at example he is a busy guy, but he has taken the time to make some example posts for POB photography. And I dropped an example description on my previous proposal, like his post, but unfortunately a lot of people don't pay attention to that. Maybe yeah some people might forget about it but don't worry, I'll write a description of
post here.
Modern telezoom lenses is fun to use.
I got one of these beasts this summer. A Panasonic Leica DG Vario-Elmar 100-400mm F4.0-6.3 ASPH. This lens alone is almost twice in weight (985 g or 2.17 lb) of my mirrorless DC-G9 camera body. Yet is considered as small and lightweight in the fullframe photo world.
Walking with a 3.5 lb gear on your neck is tough enough, and carrying some extra weigh of a tripod, while just walking in the park for fun is almost out of question.
This zoom lens is built for maniacs (like me), it has a focal length 100-400 mm, which in fact (on a MFT type camera) is equivalent to a 800mm power, if compared to a conventional full-frame cameras. But what good can you make with 800mm lens from a hand-held, without tripod ?
This task could be out of question a decade or two ago. But today, with optical stabilization features, seen here and there and everywhere, in lens, on photo sensors, on gimbals, and god knows where else, things become much different.
Look what I managed to snag on a distant building. At the moment of shooting, I had not even close idea how far it was. When back home, I measured the distance on Google maps. Guess what. It was shot from 1625 meters away.
1625 meters !
This is just a bit over one mile.
But wait a minute, this is hand held job with a 800mm, ONE MILE away ! Only one try been made, possibly I could get it even more sharp, if several shots made.
Will have to repeat this on a more bright day.
What is your largest lens?
Camera : Panasonic Lumix DC-G9
Lens: 100-400 mm LEICA DG Vario
Exposure time: 1/640, Aperture priority
F-Number : 7.1
ISO speed : 1600
Date taken : 2021:09:01 18:42
Shooting conditions were far from ideal, very late afternoon on a dull, cloudy day.
A 1:1 crop shows it is not very excellent, nor fantastic:
Do you see how cool descriptions are written by busy people, do those of us who have enough time just want to paste some photos and then write some words? I think writing a description like that won't waste too much time, and I'm sure writing a description like that isn't too difficult. So yeah it all depends on our awareness, I can't force people to make photography posts like in POB photography. I will now only focus on managing POB photography and will only provide curation for posts that comply with the rules in my proposal posts. So if you haven't seen the rules in POB photography, please look here.
