Free Speech or Self-Hate? The American Flag Debate 🤔

Here’s the comedy routine we call “American justice”: burn a rainbow flag, it’s a hate crime. Burn a Palestinian flag, same deal — hate crime. But torch the American flag? Oh, that’s not hate, that’s “protected expression.” Translation: it’s totally fine to spit on the country that actually guarantees your freedom, but God forbid you touch anyone else’s symbol.

And here’s the kicker — most Americans who actually love this country can’t stand the idea that people can desecrate our flag with zero consequences. It feels like we’ve legalized self-hate. If you disrespect your own nation, courts call it “speech.” But if you do the same to anyone else’s identity or cause? That’s suddenly “hate.” How does that math work?

Trump’s new executive order is basically saying: “Burn Old Glory, get one year in jail — no parole, no early exits, don’t even bother asking the warden.” He’s betting this will scare off the flag-burners. And honestly, maybe it will. Because nothing grates harder on Americans than watching our flag go up in flames while some clown waves another country’s flag in the same hand.
