Hello, Hivers! I still can't believe I'm writing my first ever Hive introduction post.
Allow me to introduce myself. Maria Ellyne Lasola is the name, I was born in Cebu, Philippines, a fourth-year BSHM student. Usually, at this time of the month, I should be starting my OJT (on-the-job training), but due to the epidemic, it has been postponed.
I am proud to show you that I have always been among the achievers since elementary. It may appear to others to be a minor accomplishment, but I am proud of it since I worked hard to achieve it.
I've also loved reading books and stories on Wattpad, and now I'm into reading webtoons.
I love to travel. I have been traveling with my family, but since I started college and got too busy, I've got no time.
I used to do a part-time job in a clinic when I was in 1st year to 2nd year of college. It felt nice to have an income while studying, but I had to stop since my parents wanted me to focus more on my studies.
I also love staying in the kitchen, cooking and baking. That's why I'm loving my course, though I was hesitant at first. Here are some of my outputs.
When quarantine began, this was one of my works.
My aunt @kellyane has been living with us for various reasons since the pandemic, which is how I discovered this platform. She continued telling me about it and how much it helped her writing. After months of discussing about it, my aunt told me more about the platform, explaining and making me understand it better. It's like she has already planned this, to have me join the platform too. We were casually discussing a fictional story she was working on when she abruptly stopped and looked at me, saying she wanted me to challenge myself and help me improve. I was nervous, really nervous, wondering what I would write if I joined. What kind of content would I create? Will I be able to do a good job? What if I don't do a good job? People there are good at writing and I am not. When she told me that, I had a lot on my mind, but there's also a part of me that wants to give it a shot.
Ever since I was a kid, I was not into public speaking. I quiver in fear just thinking about it. It's funny how I took a course where I have to talk a lot and engage with other people. I am a really shy and quiet person and I find it hard to talk to others. I think that is one of the reasons why I love to write. Yes, I love writing, but I would not dare say that I'm good at writing. I just love it. It makes me feel like I can be myself, I am comfortable, I can talk to others, I can easily tell people what I want to say, and I am happy when I am writing.
I used to write poems. I was into writing stories too, but I never got around to finishing my stories. I lose the energy I have and I lose hope after reading other works. Then I read mine and I think my work is definitely not worth reading. So I stopped writing, thinking I wasn't any good in that field.
And now here I am, challenging myself once more to get back on track. I'd like to write again and share it with you. I'd also like to share some of my travel adventures, some of my art, some of the dishes I've learnt to prepare at school, and some of my future poetry or stories with you.
See you on my future posts!
