This is my teammate; we'll both be models for our shoot. We chose these landmarks in Cebu because, aside from the fact that they are close to our school, we can say these landmarks have played a significant role in shaping who we are as Filipinos. They are part of our past.
We wore the Philippine's national attire. For men, he wore barong tagalog (the upper garment) while I wore baro 't saya, baro (top blouse) at saya (skirt) and we both wore black slippers. I also wore pearl jewelry for my earrings and necklace.
We started the official shoot in Fort San Pedro or Fuerza de San Pedro
Fort San Pedro dates back to 1565. Built as a defensive fortress under the command of Miguel López de Legazpi, the fort protected the city by Muslim invaders. The fort has played many roles; that of a prison camp, a mini zoo and now a handsome ruin. The history of Fort San Pedro is as important and fabulous as its architecture and terrific view from the top.You have to pay for the entrance fee so you can get in. It costs 30 PHP, but for students, if you present your student ID, you can get a discount.
Fort San Pedro is said to be both the oldest and smallest fort in the Philippines. A turret can be found on one of Fort San Pedro's corners, it once served as a watchtower.
This is the top part of the gate to the Fort. This is one of the three tunnel-shaped windows. When you stand there, you'll see the entrance of the fort and the whole Plaza Independencia, where the fort is located.
Next is the Magellan's Cross, it is located on Plaza Sugbo beside the Basilica Del Santo Niño.
Magellan's Cross is a Christian cross that was commissioned by Portuguese and Spanish explorers on the orders of Ferdinand Magellan to commemorate their arrival in Cebu during the 16th century.After that, we went to the Basilica Minore del Sto. Nino.
Basilica Minore Del Sto. Nino is one of the most famous landmarks in Cebu, the Basilica Del Santo Nino is also amongst the oldest Roman Catholic churches in Philippines. The church was made on the spot where an image of child Jesus was found by Spanish explorers in the 16th Century.Many balloon sellers may be seen, they have always been around, and I remember as a child asking my mother to buy me those balloons.
And for the finale, this is across the church, Sto. Nino's Pilgrim Center. This place accommodates many devotees who come to attend mass. There are umbrellas in red and yellow that people can use freely to protect themselves from the direct heat of the sun and rain while attending mass, which we used as props.
This is our team. Everyone worked hard for this project and is still very active despite the heat. There are times when I find it awkward to pose, and they helped me a lot.
