Les cuento que seleccioné esta gran canción porque es una de mis favoritas en la vida. Es uno de los temas más emblemáticos del cancionero tradicional de Venezuela. Se ha caracterizado por ser un tema infantil. En las fiestas escolares de navidad y hasta las madres para dormir a sus bebés cantan la melodía de ésta bella canción. Me encanta sobre todo por su contenido. "El becerrito" o mejor conocida como "la vaca mariposa" es un merengue venezolano que trata sobre el nacimiento de Jesucristo. Así mismo mencionó Simón Díaz durante una grabación. Está contado en forma de fábula. Dónde el autor hábilmente cuenta la historia del nacimiento de un becerrito o terné (cría de la vaca), dónde la madre del mismo por instinto trata de esconder a su hijo para evitar que sea casado. Casualmente al igual que María ocultó a Jesús de Herodes.
