I recently bought a new succulent, an Echeveria pulidonis. As you can see, it's quite charming, with its slightly plump, yet curved, red-rimmed leaves. It was the first time I had seen an Echeveria with such colouration. There were already a few offshoots on the plant as well, which have now been separated from the main plant and repotted.
Admittedly, I'm not exactly proud of the purchase. I had been trying to convince myself not to buy any more plants due to lack of space. As a compromise with my saner self, I decided to buy this one with the intention of giving the main plant away, while keeping a few of the offshoots for myself so that I could check the species off my list. All I needed was a suitably attractive pot to make it presentable as a gift.
However, a few days after the purchase, there was a particularly bad midday windstorm, and I came home from class to find the plant (among several others) had been blown over. It suffered some broken leaves, and no longer looks nearly as appealing. It would be impossible to give it away in this state.
I still wouldn't say that my plan was flawed. The only thing I regret is not having the foresight to bring my plants indoors on that windy day. There were several other casualties as well. I won't post the pictures, as I feel nothing but remorse when I look at them... sigh.
