Being in Chicago last week gave me so many opportunities for #lookingup!
The Wabash Building
This is one of my favorite buildings to look up at!
Roosevelt University is a private university. The school was expanded upward in 2015 when the Wabash Building was built.
In the foreground of the photo is The Spearman, one of a pair of bronze statues created by Croatian sculpture Ivan Mestrovic in 1928. It appears that I never took a photo of the other Chicago Indian, The Bowman. Neither Indian holds any weapons because the artist wanted to put more emphasis on the beauty of the human body.
Behind the statue is the Chicago Auditorium that was designed in 1889 by architects Dankmar Adler and Louis Sullivan.
The Wabash Building is on the right and in the center, many blocks away, is the top of the Willis(Sears) tower.
The statues are 17feet tall and are at the entrance to Grant Park.
We had intended spending the day in the park, but Taste of Chicago was going on and I do not do well in crowds with my mobility scooter! Instead we went over to the River Walk and sat in the shade sipping beverages and watching boats.
The shadow contest begins again this week after taking a holiday.
