FEET

These feet—along with their associated military trophies and helmets—are housed in the Musée du Louvre in Paris.

This image shows details of Les Quatre Captifs (The Four Captives), also known as Les Quatre Nations Vaincues (The Four Conquered Nations), sculpted by Martin Desjardins (Martin van den Bogaert) between 1679 and 1685.

​These monumental bronze sculptures originally adorned the pedestal of a grand statue of King Louis XIV on the Place des Victoires in Paris, commemorating the Peace of Nijmegen. The main statue of the King was melted down during the French Revolution, but the captive figures survived.

FINGERS
