My daughter-in-law took these photos of a hawk as it was flying near Lake Michigan.
If anyone is an expert at identifying raptors tell me what you think. Google tells me it is a red tail hawk, but a Ferruginous Hawk has also been seen and identified in the area.

This Great Blue Heron was standing in the water at the Botanical Garden waiting for lunch. Great Blue Herons eat nearly anything within striking distance, including fish, amphibians, reptiles, small mammals, insects, and other birds. They stand about 4ft tall and live in North and Central America, and northern South America.
