A year and a half, that's how long it's been since the first COVID detection and outbreaks occured and it's been extremely challenging. It was February where lockdowns were starting to be announced. People were ushered home and told to work from home and things were looking quite scary.

I still remember January, I remember catching something that knocked me out for 4 whole days, bed bound and if was like nothing I had ever experienced. I still wonder today if that was COVID or just a bad bout of influenza. Imagine my thoughts only a few weeks later when we were informed a new virus was released into the world and no one knew where, how or what it was.

April came and we were in lock down, a new experience for many with job losses, business closures and our governments fought over what the correct path to take was. Business support grants were rolling out and I was one of the fortunate ones to be still working. I quite enjoyed the first few months, getting up at 8:45am for a 9am start. But winter was long and cold with our community undertaking the longest lock down in the world which was focusing on eliminating the virus.

It went for 8 months straight until we gradually started opening up again, I was excited for normality but got extremely concerned as we were getting back to normal without any clear evidence that we should be. With a new born and in a high risk category I was really worried.

Once the moment arrived I contested and didn't want to return but it was a battle I shouldn't have even started, as soon as we opened we were closed again as another outbreak swept the state and parts of the nation.

We're having discussions around reopening again and the orders to return to work are starting to occur once again however, this time I remain silent because there is a Delta Variant outbreak in Sydney and reports are coming out that it is out of control with this variation putting 30 year olds into hospital, moreso ICU.

So I highly doubt we will be going anywhere anytime soon, I just wonder when people will give up on trying to send everyone into the city because every time they do there is an outbreak. Eventually people will give up and stop driving everyone insane.

But I have to admit I am feeling I am missing out on life and starting to get over it. I'm wanting to escape and head somewhere more warmer than Melbourne, I'm over the winter and I want to be beside a riverbank. I want a sensual holiday where I am completely drowned in sunlight and good vibes.

Unfortunately, we are still not allowed out and holidays are restricted so while I dream of the perfect riverbank with red cliffs and crystal clear water this spill way will have to do. It's amazing the beauty in things around you, this small channel carved by builders to allow drainage has provided the perfect sensual place to sit for a moment and reflect.

Also proving anything can be beautiful through the right camera lense.
