Good morning from Australia travel bugs! May today be a wonderful start to your week. Its Monday morning in here Australia and we are experiencing another out break of COVID. they're telling us its the more infectious UK strain. Further travel restrictions have been implemented and in honour of being grounded and much of the world unable to jet set across the globe I thought I'd share where I like to retreat to.
I've previously shared a few places around Port Douglas but not it's world famous 4 mile beach!
Located on the North East Coast in tropical Queensland the beach is of soft what sand with uninterrupted views making for one of the best locations in Tropical North Queensland. The best location to view 4 mile beach is from the top of the Northern section which also has a walking track from the beach to the top for ease of access.
From the peak you will get a beautiful view of the whole area with its dense tropical rainforest and sandy shoreline the picture perfect location to make all your friends wish they were here.
Unfortunately, humans aren't the only ones that love this beach and a safety net has been set up to prevent you being stung by "stingers" The odd crocodile is seen around so please be careful. Crocodiles tend to be more near the boat ramp. Unfortunately tourists have been renting boats to go fishing in the river as its a fantastic fishing location and an easy catch. However once returning to shore they off load their bait into the water near the boat ramp and this attracts crocodiles. A risk to everyone!
These little stingers known in Australia as Blue Bottle Jelly fish or in other parts of the world Portuguese man o war, speak for themselves. Long stingers that attach and burn. Typically only able to kill fish they have been know to kill the odd human. But these bad boys aren't even the worst ones. The famous Australian Box Jelly Fish, the deadliest of them all is lurking out there..... so stay in the nets!
It can get pretty hot in Australia so please remember to Slip, Slop, Slap.

Beach umbrellas and seats can be rented for around $20 and it's a great way to support a local.
