We all have a skill or the other that has made us unique as well as being so good at no matter how mean others might take it to be.
So now, back to the Prompt topic Skill.
To me, i see skill to be an acquired knowledge pertaining to something thatenables us do or handle the job at ease.
So to me, I am a nail technician, i started learning this skill three months ago, it wasn't an easy journey, i was lauhed at by my friends both male and females. You know, they stereotyped the skill to just the female gender. I never cared, all i wamted was to know the way round the skill, i might not be a good artist but then, i have so much passion for drawings.
The words of discouragement by my friends and sibblings made me postpone learning the skills earlier last year and this year, but then, after i was done with my National Diploma in Estate Management, i decided to shoot my shot on this skill, sometime around September but iwas too discouraged because of what people were saying.
October, i decided to take this skill as serious as i could, i shunned the side talks and took the learnig period so serious liks my life had depended on it. The first month wasn't easy as i had to deal with working as a 9 to 5 worker, just going put to learn at my break hours.
Fast forward to today, though i am yet to tp get everything, i have been able to create relationship with new customers. I have designed so many people the past 1 month and it doesn't feel i am stopping soon. Believe me, i have clients who do come all the way from Port Harcourt just to fix nails with me. This just happened within a little period of time.
Infact, i have built relationship with clients that do book me for home services of which i do charge them extra fee. To some, it might not be what they want, but to me, it has settled my bills, i mean big time. Imagine charging someone #10,000 naira equivalent to 10 Hive just for powder nail, now calculate if i have upto 3 customers which might be even bigher than that in a week, my friends, i will be able to pay my house rent and sort out put some other bills without looking up to anyone to settle them for me.
The reward i have gotten from this skill within this short period of time has erased the mockery i received when i wanted to learn this skill. I am even planning to rent a shop and start my own nail design company very soon, but till then, i will keep learning and earning from this. These days ladies prefer to even make their nails with me than with their fellow female counterparts.
Pride yourself with whateveryour hands find to do, be sure to do it diligently, the begining might not be rosey but there is a reward for everything under the sun. Eberybody has their own path, dont try living someone else's dream, dream yours and live yours.
