Holy Quince, Batman... It's Beer Saturday!
And so it has passed that the mighty weekend is upon us, welcoming and sheltering us under its big barky branches.
What delights shall we pluck from the beer tree this weekend?
A couple of corkers that's what. We have a blonde to begin with. Everyone knows I like a blonde. Both the ladies and the beers.
Wheaty, is something I'm oft heard to mutter when having one, in fact. Although one of my ex-girlfriends was less than impressed to hear such commentary on her bahjeen.
So we have a fabulous blonde and a... a quince beer?
This requires some googling as I am unfamiliar with such a fruit.
Fortunately, a quick search tells me all I needed to know. COWS BALLS! That's what quince are.
So, wheaty vaginas and cows balls.
What a tasting this is going to be!!
So, there is little to go on with the minimal packaging other than the tempting claim to be wheat beer styley. I like wheat beers, they are magic summer drinks. Make me think fondly of lounging about in the sun flicking snotters (boogers to the stateside cousins) at the dogs that other people bring to beer gardens.
Let's pour!
Isn't that odd. I had expected a more frivolous playful light looking thing. It looks more like Heineken and the less said about that the better. After all, we have all been to one of those parties.
I am sure it will taste better than bitter cold ash memories?
Ha! Thankfully, yes. It is a good beer. Nothing spectacular or even that notable but a very drinkable session style beer. I could have a few of these and fall out of a boat with no one noticing and that is a fact.
Top donk, 7/10 booms!
Next...
Now, this. This certainly looks the part. In fact, it looks like I was expecting the blondie to look like. It looks like the summer sun is starting to peek out of the glass with its lovely little white taffeta skirt at the top.
Magic!
A fine thing, the quince being more pineapple than anything and mellowing out the bitter hops of your standard IPA. In fact it makes it a big non-bitter juicy beer. A fantastic find and one I would happily drink again. 8.5 booms to you my ballish friend!
Well, it is nice to be on the pales and get a break from the heavy stouts and porters. I feel quite zingy, perhaps I should go for a run?
Tally ho!
Cheers everyone and have a good weekend!
