[Eng/Esp] Sketchbook Chapter 19: Lord Shiva

Hello, my dear creative Hivers. With just a few pages left to finish this series of my little art book, today i share with you this new chapter dedicated to the god Shiva. I have always loved the gods of Hinduism; they are visually beautiful, colorful and exotic. Blue has always been my favorite color, so i have a special obsession with drawing blue creatures. These gods often have unusual skin tones, which catches my attention, although i admit that drawing them is no easy task. But this time, i wanted to try drawing a little Shiva for my mini sketchbook.

Hola, mis queridos hivers creativos. Ya a pocas páginas para terminar esta serie de mi pequeño libro de arte, hoy les comparto este nuevo capítulo dedicado al dios Shiva. Siempre me han encantado los dioses del hinduísmo, son visualmente hermosos, coloridos y exóticos. El azul siempre ha sido mi color favorito, así que tengo una especial obsesión por dibujar criaturas azuladas, estos dioses suelen tener pieles poco comunes y eso hace que atrapen mi atención, aunque admito que dibujarlos no es cosa fácil, pero esta vez quise intentar dibujar un pequeño Shiva para mi mini Sketchbook.

These days i haven't been feeling very creative, probably due to a strange fatigue i've been experiencing lately, but i'm committed to finishing this little project so i can start another book. I now understand why many people have a library of sketchbooks full of art, themed and using different techniques. They are mini traveling galleries that you can carry in your pocket. So i opened Pinterest to get a little inspiration and decide what i wanted to do on this new page. In my feed, without even searching for anything, i already had many images of Hindu gods, so i felt it was time to dedicate a page to one of them. I had also planned to draw the god Ganesha, son of Shiva, but his blue father, the wonderful great God of Yoga, won 💙. I took my pencil and began to trace these sacred lines.

En estos días no me he sentido muy creativa que digamos, probablemente por una extraña fatiga que he presentado últimamente, pero estoy comprometida con terminar este pequeño proyecto para así poder comenzar con otro librito. la verdad ahora entiendo el porqué muchos tienen una biblioteca de sketchbooks llenos de arte, temáticos y con diversas técnicas, son mini galerías ambulantes y de bolsillo para llevar. Así que abrí pinterest para inspirarme un poco y decidir qué quería hacer en esta nueva página. En mi feed sin buscar nada, ya tenía muchas imágenes de dioses hinduístas , así que sentí que ya era hora de dedicarle una página a uno de ellos. Tenía pensado también dibujar al dios Ganesha, hijo de Shiva pero su azulado padre, el maravilloso gran Dios del Yoga ganó 💙. Tomé mi lápiz y comencé a trazar éstas líneas sagradas.

Using a pastel blue alcohol marker, i prepared the base before outlining, and although i wasn't sure what other materials i would use later, i just went with what i felt. I really liked this shade of blue, and when i was outlining with the calibrated pens, i admit that i thought about leaving it like that and doing the whole design in black ink, but i decided to ignore my impulsive preference for black ink.

Con un marcador de alcohol color azul pastel, preparé la base antes del delineado y aunque no estaba segura de qué otros materiales usaría luego, sólo me dejé llevar por lo que sentía. Este tono de azul realmente me pareció muy lindo, en el momento de delinear con los bolígrafos calibrados admito que pensé en dejarlo así y hacer todo el diseño en tinta negra, pero decidí no hacerle caso a mis impulsivos gustos por la tinta negra.

When creating that unclear and cold base with alcohol markers, there would be certain limitations with other techniques, so without stressing myself out or thinking too much, i started with the hair and other details in dark colors using the same technique. For the other characteristic elements of this god, such as the trident, the snake, earrings, necklaces, and so on, i would have to opt for other materials. Except for the Yapa Mala, i also used small dots with two-tone alcohol markers as a base for this element, as this would help me create the texture of the rudraksha, which is the seed used for this necklace.

Al crear esa base no muy clara y fría con marcadores de alcohol, habrían ciertas limitantes con otras técnicas así que sin estresarme ni pensar demasiado, comencé con el cabello y demás detalles en colores oscuros con la misma técnica. Con los demás elementos característicos de este dios, como el tridente, la serpiente, argollas, collares y demás tendría que optar por otros materiales. Exceptuando la Japa Mala, este elemento también usé como base pequeños puntos con marcadores de alcohol de dos tonalidades, pues esto me ayudaría a crear la textura de la rudraksha que es la semilla que se utiliza para este collar.

For the rest of the symbolic elements of this deity, i used acrylic markers for the decoration on her forehead and third eye, as well as for her earring, and soft, creamy colored pencils for the snake, trident, and textures such as ocean waves in the background. With a copper brown metallic colored pencil, also with an ultra-soft lead, i highlighted details in the warm-colored elements.

Para el resto de los elementos simbólicos de esta deidad usé marcadores acrílicos para el decorado en su frente y tercer ojo, también para su argolla y lápices de colores de mina suave y cremosa para la serpiente, tridente y las texturas como de olas marinas en el fondo. Con un lápiz de color metálico color marrón cobrizo, también de mina ultra suave resalté detalles en los elementos de colores cálidos.

For the finishing touches and details, i added some highlights to the hair with colored pencils and used white acrylic paint to create a sea foam effect on the blue and marine background. And that's how chapter 19 turned out, blue and mystical like the great Lord Shiva, with his serene, meditative, and transformative complexion.

Para los últimos toques y detalles hice algunas iluminaciones en el cabello con lápices de color y con acrílico blanco coloqué un efecto como de espuma de mar sobre el fondo azulado y marino. Y así fue como resultó este capitulo número 19, azulado y místico como el gran Señor Shiva, con su tez serena, meditativa y transformadora 💙
