I've heard somewhere that a friendship that lasts more than 7 years will last forever, cause it's a real one. In my life I've been lucky enough to find amazing people that have stuck around through good and bad, and, I've also have met some others that I thought would do, but we ended up drifting apart.
Today is Reconciliation day and we were suggested to write about a relationship we wish to mend. I'm a strong believer that everything we do leads us to what we are meant to be and where we need to be, and the people that cross our path, even if it is briefly, were meant to do so in that way, like part of a bigger plan.
However, it's hard not to think that maybe if some things were done differently, some people would still be in our lives, which makes us wonder if we had the opportunity of a re-do, what things we'd change or just stay the same?.
To me friendship is really important, I consider myself lucky to have the very few friends I have, cause even though is not the biggest circle, I can say that my true friends are still here by me, even if we are far apart in location.
There was this time when I was part of a bigger group, we used to do everything together, we worked together, went out together, and even got romantically involved within the group. That was a bad idea, cause when a breakup happens it takes time for both parts to heal and be able to go back to the initial friendship (at least in my case, that is)

I couldn't count the endless occasions when we stood together by each other side for moral support, the many achievements we celebrated, birthdays, hookups, breakups, we grew together as persons. There wasn't a thing we didn't share.

The range of personalities was wide to unimaginable levels, there was a little bit of everything and was impossible to get bored around us, we were a fun group with musicians, artists, and even a superhero xD, we felt like family for some time
We started drifting apart after a bad breakup that divided the group, which sucked most about it was that one of the two parts involved (she) wanted to stay friends, but the other part (he) couldn't see pass the damage done, if you ask me, he was to blame, and i think deep down everyone also thought so, but, long story short, things never went back to normal, awkwardness became unbearable and each one of us went separately.
Eventually some of us would get together for drinks, a movie, or the occasional party, but it was not the same, the group was never the same.

If you ask me if i'd turn back time to prevent that relationship to ruin the dynamics of the group, i'd probably jump out to say yes, cause maybe that'd mean to have the opportunity to extend the time shared with such an amazing group of people, but, giving it a second thought, and staying true to my principles i'd say that whatever happens, happens for a reason. Who knows, if things had been different I would not have met my beloved husband and I would not have my wonderful children, so i'm an advocate for keeping things the way they are.

But if i was given the chance to make a clean slate, start over again, reconnect and catch up with them, i'd do it with my eyes closed and a lot of joy in my heart. Thanks to social networks some of us still have a little bit of contact, but there is still a huge void between the group we were and the individuals we are now, each with families of their own and living all around the world.
When i read the prompt suggestions, stopped at today's and thought maybe i'd change it or do something else, cause i didn't want to get emotional, since it's still a delicate subject, i often think how great would be if my girls could meet all this amazing people and share with their kids and families, we have very small social circles and both our families are small and there are no many cousins to play, so, it's something i'd like a lot, although I know many new people can enter in our lives.
What I do know is that no matter what happened, they will always have a very special place in my heart, and nothing would make me happier than to hang out with them again!
