It has been many Wednesdays since I last shared a walk with you. Although honestly speaking this post is not exactly about a walk and it didn't happen this Wednesday either, in fact it has been happening from Monday to Friday for more than 4 months.
It turns out that in the month of October I am working away from home.
It all started to help a friend who needed it in her small business. Then it became a temporary contract, because what we had hoped to solve in a month, has been extended for more than four months and still needs to be done.
Every morning my husband, my daughter and I leave the house. Since my work is on the way to my daughter's school, I make half the trip with them and continue on public transportation to my destination.
The first part of the trip is along Rancho Boyeros Avenue all the way to the Ciudad Deportiva. In many publications of Cubans in Hive you have seen this traffic circle and this fountain. They are located at the junction of Rancho Boyeros, 26th and V铆a Blanca Avenues, where the municipalities of Plaza de la Revoluci贸n and Cerro meet.
They are main arteries of the city and early in the morning there is a lot of traffic. The fountain that adorns the traffic circle at that hour is illuminated by the sun and the water from the fountain draws whimsical rainbows in the air.
To continue my trip, I usually take small electric tricycles that work as an alternative to the deficient public transportation in our country. They are uncomfortable, quite narrow and we go like "sardines in a can"馃き. We have to arrange our legs sideways, alternating one with the other to be able to position ourselves in the tiny devices. The discomfort does not last long and during the trip the most varied conversations arise...Cubans are quite talkative 馃槣.
After about 10 minutes and without leaving the Via Blanca, I reach another municipality, Old Havana. A few meters separate me from my place of work, I can see from where I get off the cramped transport the roof of the store's warehouse. You can see it too, it is the one in the background of last photo, the one with the Cuban flag drawn on it.
Another working day awaits me, I thank you for accompanying me on my morning tour, nice Wednesday to all of you.
