Stuffed rabbits for my nieces

Hello everyone!!! It's been a long time since I shared my sewing adventures with you. This one I bring you today was a complete pleasure to make, because I made it with a lot of love to give to my nieces.

In July I had the pleasure of meeting my beautiful nieces. I talked about it in a post I made and I also told you there that I would bring you this project that I present to you today. It's been some time, but it's never too late to show off our work.

I don't remember how a link came to me from a Facebook profile of a creator of stuffed animals dolls from recycled fabrics. I was fascinated with the designs and the creativity in each one. So much so, that I decided to make a version of one of them to give to my nieces as a souvenir of their visit. I chose a very simple and peculiar rabbit, which was easy for me to make because I have no experience in this type of work. Here I share with you the process and the list of materials.

Hola a todos!!! Hace bastante tiempo que no compartía mis aventuras costureras con ustedes. Esta que les traigo hoy fue un completo placer hacerla, porque la hice con mucho amor para regalar a mis sobrinas.

En Julio tuve el placer de conocer a mis bellas sobrinas. Hablé de eso en una publicación que hice y también les dije allí que traería este proyecto que les presento hoy. Ha pasado algún tiempo, pero nunca es tarde para mostrar nuestros trabajos.

No recuerdo como llegó a mi un enlace de un perfil de Facebook de una creadora de muñecos de peluches a partir de telas recicladas. Quedé fascinada con los diseños y la creatividad en cada uno. Tanto así, que decidí hacer una versión de uno de ellos para regalar a mis sobrinas como recuerdo de su visita. Escogí un conejo bastante sencillo y peculiar, que me resultara fácil su elaboración porque no tengo experiencia en este tipo de trabajos. Aquí les comparto el proceso y la lista de materiales.

You will need:

• Pieces of fabrics of various types to combine (all recycled from previous pieces).
• Threads of the right colors
• Scissors
• Mold if needed (in this case I didn't use it)
• Synthetic cotton (sheet and loose)
• Hand sewing needle

Se necesita:

• Pedazos de telas de varios tipos para combinar (todas recicladas de piezas anteriores)
• Hilos de los colores adecuados
• Tijera
• Molde si necesitan (en este caso no usé)
• Algodón sintético (lámina y suelto)
• Aguja de coser a mano

The first thing I did was to start from an image and conceive a version of a size that I thought was suitable and adjust the measurements of the components. With 2 different types of fabrics and without using a mold I cut the rectangles for the body (you can make them any size you decide) mine measure 22cm × 16cm. The legs that will be of the same fabric as the back of my doll is a rectangle of 18cm x 7cm. And of the same size but from a pair of used socks will be the hands. The ears will be made of 3 fabrics, at the back the same as the legs, at the front a nice pink and black. They will be in the shape of an elongated triangle of 16cm x 6cm at the base. And I will reserve a small square of the same pink as the ears to make the snout. All the pieces will have a similar one cut in synthetic cotton sheet to give it body, except the hands and paws.

Lo primero que hice fue partir de una imagen y concebir una versión de un tamaño que creí adecuado y ajustar las medidas de los componentes. Con 2 tipos de telas diferentes y sin utilizar molde corté los rectángulos para el cuerpo (pueden hacerlos del tamaño que decidan) los mios miden 22cm × 16cm. Las patas que serán de la misma tela de la parte trasera de mi muñeco es un rectángulo de 18cmx 7cm. Y de la misma medida pero de un par de calcetines usados serán las manos. Las orejas serán de 3 telas, por detrás la misma de las patas, por delante un rosado lindo y negro. Tendrán forma de triángulo alargado de 16cm x 6cm en la base. Y reservaré un cuadrado pequeño del mismo rosado de las orejas para hacer el hocico. Todas las piezas llevarán una semejante cortada en lámina de algodón sintético para darle cuerpo, excepto las manos y los patas.

Next I will make the ears. I will sew the parts facing the right sides of the fabrics with the stuffing in between. I will turn to the right side and then sew the black trangulillo that adorns the front.

Seguidamente haré las orejas. Coseré las partes enfrentando los derechos de las telas con el relleno entre ambas. Viraré al derecho y después coseré el trangulillo negro que adorna por la parte frontal.

Now I will sew the legs and hands forming a tube closed at one end. I will turn right side out and stuff with synthetic cotton.

Ahora coseré las patas y las manos formando un tubo cerrado por un extremo. Viraré al derecho y rellenaré con algodón sintético.

With the legs, hands and ears ready, I will place each one in its place on the body. Facing the right sides of the rectangles that form it and with the cotton sheet between them, I will sew all around, leaving an opening in the back of the ears. Through this opening I will turn my doll right side out and stuff the body with synthetic cotton to make it soft and cuddly. With a hand sewing needle I will close the opening.

Con patas, manos y orejas listas me dispondré a colocar cada una en su lugar del cuerpo. Enfrentando los derechos de los rectángulos que lo forman y con la lámina de algodón entre ellos, coseré por todo el contorno, dejando en la parte de atrás de las orejas una abertura. Por ese orificio viraré al derecho mi muñeco y rellenaré con algodón sintético el cuerpo para que quede suave y apapuchable. Con una aguja de coser a mano cerraré la abertura.

Only small details remain. From the pink square I had set aside I will make a circle of the right size for the snout. I will also cut the synthetic cotton sheet in the same way and hand sew them together in the right place. Here I will make a buttonhole stitch for a better finish. Also with that stitch I will sew a black circle (imitating the nose) with some black cotton cord whiskers. The eyes (white felt circles) and pupils (a small black detail) will be stitched in the same way.

Solo quedan pequeños detalles. Del cuadrado rosado que había reservado haré un circulo del tamaño adecuado para el hocico. También cortaré de la misma manera la lámina de algodón sintético y ambas cosas juntas las coseré a mano en el lugar adecuado. Aquí haré un punto ojal para un mejor acabado. También con esa puntada coseré un círculo negro (imitando la nariz) con unos bigotes de cordón de algodón negro. Los ojos (círculos de fieltro blanco) y las pupilas (un pequeño detalle negro) serán cosidos de igual manera

To finish my super cool and soft bunnies, with an acrylic marker I will write on a label that I sewed on each one, the name of my nephews. And ready!!!!

Para terminar mis conejitos super chulos y suaves, con un marcador acrílico escribiré en una etiqueta que cosí a cada uno, el nombre de mis sobris. ¡¡¡Y listos!!!

My little guajas loved the gift made by their aunt. My big niece named hers "Luna" and the little one who is very nice and perceptive as soon as she heard her sister said...mine is called "Sol" 🤭. Cute my nieces 🥰😍.

A mis guajas peques les encantó el regalo hecho por por su tía. Mi sobri grande nombró 'Luna" al de ella y la peque que es muy simpática y perspicaz en cuanto oyó a la hermana dijo...el mío entonces se llama "Sol" 🤭. Lindas mis sobrinas 🥰😍.
