Son las 11:15 de la noche del sábado 13 de Julio aquí en esta parte del mundo. Para cuando termine este post ya será domingo y se habrá acabado este día donde he estado contra reloj todo el tiempo, bueno...en realidad desde ayer. Tal parece que he estado corriendo una carrera de resistencia, estoy agotada.

En la tarde del viernes recibí un encargo de una de las más fieles y antiguas clientas que tengo. La conozco desde los tiempos que tenía mi tienda de regalos (he hablado de ese negocio en otras publicaciones).
Lamentablemente ese ciclo cerró y ahora me encuentro inmersa en otro emprendimiento bastante parecido al anterior, pero de eso les hablaré en un futuro post.
Por ahora les seguiré contando de mi día.

El trabajo encargado fue un nombre decorativo para la pared de una habitación infantil. Mi clienta lo quiere para hacer un regalo a unos amigos, futuros papás de un niño, que se van a otro país este domingo. Paralicé todo lo que estaba haciendo y me puse en función de este proyecto.

Las especificaciones fueron pocas, pero...algo confusas jajaja. El nombre del bebé será Liam Code y debía tener algo alegórico al ajedrez, al fútbol (aquí puntualizó que si era sobre Messi mejor) y además que la letra de ambos nombres fuera muuuy diferente.

Le propuse algunas variaciones. Desde los primeros diseños decidió dejar fuera lo referente a Messi, así que las características eran un poco más fáciles de implementar. Rápido encontré las tipografías que le gustaron y el diseño tampoco fue gran problema. Encontrar los colores y sus combinaciones fue un poco más difícil, pero encontramos una que nos complació a ambas 🤭. Luego de casi 4 horas pude empezar a realizarlo. Ya eran las 6 de la tarde del viernes.

Imprimí los moldes y marqué las letras en algunos pedazos de cartón forrado con papel artesanal que me habían sobrado de trabajos anteriores. Por suerte los tenía, eso agilizó el proceso. Luego las calé todas. Al terminar era bastante tarde, así que decidí continuar a la mañana siguiente.

Me levanté temprano, desayuné y puse manos a la obra. Cubrir todos los bordes expuestos del cartón con tiras de papel artesanal es bastante tedioso y demoré unas cuantas horas para hacerlo. Almorcé y luego de un pequeño descanso, continué con mi labor.

Apliqué la primera capa de pintura y esperé tiempo suficiente para la segunda capa. Decoré la pequeña pelota de fútbol, puse el adhesivo doble contacto por la parte de atrás (para poder pegarlo a la pared) y finalmente el barniz de acabado. A las 7 de la tarde ya estaba listo. Será entregado en horas de la mañana de este domingo, con tiempo suficiente para que llegue a manos de sus futuros dueños.

It's 11:15 pm on Saturday night, July 13th here in this part of the world. By the time I finish this post it will be Sunday and this day where I have been against the clock all the time will be over, well...actually since yesterday. It feels like I've been running an endurance race, I'm exhausted.

On Friday afternoon I received an order from one of my oldest and most loyal customers. I've known her since the days when I had my gift store (I've talked about that business in other posts). Unfortunately that cycle closed and now I am immersed in another venture quite similar to the previous one, but I will tell you about that in a future post.
For now I will continue telling you about my day.

The commissioned work was a decorative name for the wall of a children's room. My client wants it as a gift for some friends, future parents of a child, who are going to another country this Sunday. I stopped everything I was doing and started working on this project.

The specifications were few, but...somewhat confusing hahaha. The baby's name will be Liam Code and it had to have something allegorical to chess, soccer (here she pointed out that if it was about Messi the better) and also that the letter of both names should be very different.

I proposed some variations. From the first designs he decided to leave out the Messi stuff, so the features were a bit easier to implement. I quickly found the fonts he liked and the design was no big deal either. Finding the colors and their combinations was a bit more difficult, but we found one that pleased us both 🤭. After almost 4 hours I was able to start making it. It was already 6 o'clock on Friday evening.

I printed the molds and marked the letters on some pieces of cardboard lined with craft paper that I had left over from previous jobs. Luckily I had them, which speeded up the process. Then I traced them all. When I finished it was quite late, so I decided to continue the next morning.

I got up early, had breakfast and got to work. Covering all the exposed edges of the cardboard with strips of craft paper is quite tedious and it took me a few hours to do it. I had lunch and after a short break, I continued with my work.

I applied the first coat of paint and waited enough time for the second coat. I decorated the little soccer ball, put the double contact adhesive on the back (so I could stick it to the wall) and finally the finishing varnish. At 7 pm it was ready. It will be delivered in the morning hours of this Sunday, with enough time to reach the hands of its future owners.
