Well, it’s the second post where I’m revealing the coffees and impressions from my Christmas coffee calendar. I’ll try my best to include some beautiful Christmas themed photos along with the thoughts about the coffee tastes. Now, let’s proceed to the coffees!

Day #5
House blend DIABLO

This blend is relatively cheap one in the company’s portfolio. It’s brown labeled coffee and this makes it a relatively classical tasting coffee without much fruit aromas. The brown label makes coffee better enjoyed in the espresso maker, rather than the V60 filter.

This blend is described as the most chocolate tasting coffee variety in the Dabov’s coffee selection. It’s not one of my favorites, because of the relatively classical taste, but it was still well enjoyed.

Day #6
Kenya Kamwangi AA

Now it was just about time for a red labeled coffee. Fruity aromas bring some very special aromas in coffees and they are truly my favorite choice. They are great both for espresso machine and V60 filtering.

Kenyan coffees have always been one of the best tasting coffees and whatever the farmer and the coffee sort is, the final result is always great. This coffee very beautiful too and the aromas in it include blackberries, vanilla and dark chocolate. It’s truly very tasty and I enjoyed that a lot!

Day #7
Colombia Finca La Maria

img_5732.heic

The initial thoughts of me and my wife was that the Dabov specialty coffee team will choose to put the brown label coffees earlier in the days of December and will keep the specialty ones towards the Christmas days. So we ordered our coffees to be ground espresso size from 1st to 12th and V60 the following half - 13th to 24th.

This coffee is brown labeled again and I think about 60% of the coffees so far are brown. We have ordered Colombia Finca La Maria again in our regular purchases, and it is one of the better brown labels.

Toffee, brown sugar and milk
Chocolate are its aromatic qualities. A coffee that is balanced very good and very easy to drink.

Day #8
House blend Impressions

img_5743.heic

In the video where this coffee was revealed, the Dabov team described this coffee as the most classical Italian blend in their portfolio. The coffee really was nothing special. It was just a
Very good coffee, without any special aromas. This is the coffee that every person knows very well.

Day #9
Brazil Alianza

img_5758.heic

This coffee is very interesting one, although being a brown labeled coffee again. There was a TV show on the Bulgarian TV where a famous Bulgarian cook was traveling around the world searching for great food. The episode was with a special guest - Jordan Dabov, the founder of the Dabov specialty coffee company. They were both on a visit in Brazil
And the enjoyed a visit in a coffee farm- the Alianza farm. It’s a very old coffee farm and now it’s owned by a Japanese family. The Japanese farmer runs it very well
And everyone may know how organized and pedantic the Japanese people are.

Toffee, biscuits and chocolate are the aromas present in this coffee. A relatively classical taste, but with some additional sweetness and biscuity finish.

Day #10
Nicaragua Gabriela Hueck

Well, I assume I and my wife were correct in our predictions, because this is also a brown labeled coffee. And yes, we have this one again in our previous orders. The coffee is named after the farmer who takes care of the coffee beans - Ma Gabriela Hueck and she does a pretty decent job in sorting and finding the best tasting beans among the huge coffee crops.

Milk chocolate, brown sugar and cocoa - these are the hidden gems in this coffee. And it’s really tasty. I will most likely order a coffee from this sort and farmer again.

Day #11
House blend Vertigo

Well, we almost reached the end of the first half and V60 coffees are very close. This one, though, is a red labeled blend of Dabov. After a couple of days with brown labels this one was very well enjoyed.

img_5792.heic

This blend hosts a very wide variety of aromas, including mango, berries, almond and cocoa. The coffee is relatively fresh and after the initial fruitiness, gradually comes the chocolate and nutty aftertaste. A pretty decent job of blending different coffee varieties did the Dabov team achieve here.

Now what? Tomorrow is the last day of our espresso half and then the V60 ones are coming. I know that they will be enjoyed a lot!

See you next week! Have a nice and peaceful weekend!
