Well the place where we went during the short holiday here in Bulgaria was quite nice. It is located in a small village and the road literally ends there. After reaching the place you are surrounded by beautiful nature and the forest is just next to the property. The weather was absolutely on our side and although there were some clouds from time to time, it was not raining. We visited this house about four month ago too, but then it was snowing and we didn’t enjoy the broad yard at all.
I find this place to be perfect for enjoying a pretty strange beer that I got as a present last month. You already know, from the post topic, what this beer is and the name is just as strange as it is. Plaadimeri hot… what? And aside from the tomato purée and hot peppers added, there is some sea salt among the ingredients too. The style is said to be a Baltic tomato gose. And I don’t know if this beer would not go better with some vodka as a company.
The bottle itself is something that I hadn’t seen before. It looks a bit retro and a bit weird with its proportions. I had some doubts about the beer ever since I received it as a present. Now, we’lol see if the first instinct is gonna be fulfilled.
What about this location? I think it’s very breathtaking and relaxing at the same time. So let’s enjoy what is in the bottle. Or… will I really enjoy it? 😁
The color is not what I was expecting. I was maybe tricked by the tomato addition and thought that the beer would be more reddish, rather than this amberish color. It still has an interesting red hint in the body.
The beer is absolutely clear and doesn’t develop a head at all. It’s still a sour gose and the foam on the top is the last thing to be expected here. The aroma is very sour and there is, of course, some tomato aroma. Not so intense though.
In the mouth it begins sour and salty, ultimately fresh. The tomatoes are very well blended and quite balanced. I like it that they are not so intensive and they are not dominating. Being a strong flavoring, you can easily mess the whole thing but not this time. The chili peppers start very mild and continuously develop into a stronger spicyness. I have a relatively high level of chili acceptance so the beer was just perfect for me.
After all I was expecting something more messed and bad tasting, but the beer really surprised me. It was perfect to make bbq time just a bit better.
Will I buy this beer again? I’m not sure about this, but this time it was well enjoyed. Definitely worth trying, especially if you are open for some experimental brews.
Cheers and hive a nice day!
