Good morning, fellows! How are you today? It’s Saturday again and it’s the time I spend enjoying some coffee while the kids are playing around. Today the big boy is still sleeping and the little one is enjoying a lot of toys in his playfield.
I’m happy that the coffee I am enjoying in my house is a special one and the founder of the company, where I buy my beans from, makes his best to find the highest quality coffee from all around the world. Today’s coffee is from Honduras.
The Honduras Caballero coffee is unique with its complex character and includes some mango, banana, mint and ice cream flavors. I remember this coffee since the time I started buying coffee from this shop. The variety of aromas that these beans wear is slightly different with the different crops, but it’s always around the ice cream aftertaste.
Here’s where exactly this coffee is coming from:
This coffee comes from a country that is not among the biggest and most famous coffee producing countries. Even though it’s the fifth biggest coffee producer, although it’s not widely known fact. It’s expected that in 2022 it will produce about 5-5,5 million bags of coffee, each one weighing 60 kilos. This country is located between Nicaragua, El Salvador and Guatemala and in this country the coffee producers are small and medium size families with coffee farms. Their number is around 115 000, which is a lot! The country of course is Honduras!
One of the families is so powerful and famous in the coffee world, not only because one of their coffees wins the well known Cup of Excellence competition in 2016 and it has been the highest score coffee for a couple of years, but this family is also well known for the quality and innovation in coffee production.
The farm is called Finca el Puente - the farm on the bridge. Jordan Dabov and the owners of this exact farm met in 2017 and from 2019 to date, Dabov specialty coffee purchases roughly 10% of the Finca el Puente’s yearly production. There are a lot of families which are working in this farm and the owners give a part of their profits to one of the families working in the farm. They are nominated and voted for by the other families working there and the money are donated for building their home. The owners of this farm are Marysabel and Moises and they make a pretty high quality coffee. Currently there are three varieties from this farm in the Dabov specialty coffee shop. The one that I bought now is a red labeled.
This time I am enjoying an espresso shot from these coffee beans and because this is the coffee of the month and has 15% discount, I ordered both espresso and V60 coffee grind sizes.
I really think about buying one of their more expensive and exclusive coffees, which are of course pricier too. For instance the Java Marysabel & Moises coffee comes with the flavors of Vanilla, Nougat and Creme brûlée. Nice, huh?
Well, today I will only enjoy the fruitful and ice cream flavors.
