It is still the beginning of the summer, but our family vacation is already in the past. Each year we cannot wait for it and book a stay in the beginning of the summer, but then it is two or three more months of envious mood over the other people enjoying the seaside. But if we are lucky we will manage to leave the kids at their grandparents and enjoy one shorter vacation with just the baby.
As you may already know me, I always tend to prepare a part of my brewing tools when I travel and this year wasnt different. Well, maybe kt was a bit different because now I have the manual grinder and the AeroPress which are both very compact and practical. As a reault all of my brewing gear for traveling firs inti these two pieces:
Looks great, right? I mean… I only need a hot water source, but lickily almost all the hotels in Bulgaria have a hot water kettle equipped in the rooms. And apart from this gear, i only need some quality beans to enjoy.
Now our baggage is complete!
It is a common thing in the hotels to have generally bad coffee at their restaurants, and even if the espresso machines are good, either the product is garbage or the staff is not qualified to work with the available tools. Sometimes they even miss some general knowledge over the process of coffee brewing, which is a bit sad, but I cannot change a thing here…
The coffee machines in the restaurant of the hotel were looking quite modern and they used coffee beans for making espresso, not instant coffee like most of the places. This is a good start. And they were using relatively more expensive Costa coffee beans. Another premise for a good final product. But guess what… It… I may use some worse words, but i will say… it was bad. Very, very bitter and tasteless.
Maybe if I tried some products with milk, it would be better, but I really wouldn’t prefer one of them. Despite the machine was using fresh milk, not some dry, powder product I did not try the cappucino and latte.
The wiser option was to brew some magical flavors when back in the room.
Mentioning the room, we had Lavazza capsules available for brewing there, and they were refilled every day, but this more intense option was equally bad with the coffee at the restaurant. They had a crema option, which tasted a bit better, but still could not compete with my coffee at all.
One of the coffees that I brought with me was a quite special competition coffee by Dabov. It has taken the seconf place in a competition called Sancup, held in Brazil. The taste profile should include mango, pineapple and lemon peel. I don’t know if I catch all of these, but in general it is a very fruitful and enjoyable coffee. Maybe I catch mainly the pineapple nuance and with all its light flavor it is perfect.
And look at the view from our terrace! It couldn’t be better!
Some short words about the AeroPress…
I am still getting used to it, but so far I managed to pull out some pretty amazing cups of coffee. Its size is perfect for brrwing two cups of coffee at once and it takes no more than 3-4 minutes to reach the final target. One more bonus! It is amazingly easy to wash and prepare it for another brew.
Uou only need to push, and make sure that the cup is big enough for all the coffee you want to brew…. Whoops… maybe I expected a bit too much.
Anyway… I will post a more detailed review as soon as I experiment some more time with this compact coffee brewer.
What a noce vacation! As soon as the kids are happy and there is good coffee around there is nothing to worry about. The weather was good, the coffee was amazing and we came back home full of great memoriesand poaitive emotions.
We already dream about our next trip. Thank you for stopping by and wish you a pleasant weekend! See you soon!
Bye!
