T was a market day when they came
Our kids were playing by the beach babies dangled
And mothers were dazzled at the sight of the strange faces
But we continually offshored our loads
And sold out few fresh fishes
And the little little fingerlings
While the husbandmen plowed in the fields

They pleaded with us
So they could help us with our labour
So they would help us live our life
Our own way
That some-day,sometime
We all can sublime in more dime for good;
Again they begged us
For stretches of our homeland
And mow with us the tall thick grasses

Among us some hesitated to hug this seal
But what flesh would complain
Where the big brains nodded?
Again which brain would stiffen
When our own heads bowed?
We gave them goldust for gunpowder
To guard our bamboo castle against ruins
That fortified with strong mud and gold iron
But they hoodwinked us in their gunsmith's wits

T was a day
A day indeed!!!!
A night disguise was wholly unveiled;
They made us all troop into a synagogue
Their strange shinning shrine
As were going to give us some cowries for our sweats
Few coins that would make our pockets smile
O!!!
They firmly shut the door in our faces
Behind our backs
And handcuffed our naked limbs
As if putting a big fancy ring on our fingers
But our slammer footchain bells kept toing and froing
And toing in the face of ground
Banging at the door our hands would not rest
And they fed us with our own meat

Times
The penniless slept
On full null stomachs
By the beach
Not a shadow gill
In their reach;
Even our chiefs were left
Masticating fine corn alone
'Twas a day
Not a day in deed

Tick-tock: ticks talk
Seconds began to crawl
Minutes ran
Time passed
Till time passed time
When we were fed up with times;
And they too
They grew tired of our fistsMade way for fresh fair air
Thew their dungeon keys to some of us
Who had the heaviest heart
And left our land
With our handlocks still on our hand

At last we were freed!!!
But were we free?
Freed or free???
