It is one of my habits every time I visit a town or a city to photograph the churches both outside and inside whenever they are accessible, each one has its own history and uniqueness but they all share something in common which are their images of worship.
Each image is a window into a world of faith and hope for every believer, but also testimony to the art and architecture that have endured through the centuries. From majestic Gothic cathedrals to simple and cozy rural chapels.
Although I have not focused on the more common images such as the Virgin and Jesus, I am more drawn to the altars, stained glass windows and columns that are meticulously carved and I don't know if it is intentional but some are shaped like some sort of weird faces.
There are some particularly poignant figures that refer to souls in purgatory. These works reflect faces of supplication showing suffering and longing for redemption. The expressions of pain sculpted on these faces make me feel sorry for these souls even though they are only a few images.

Hay algunas figuras particularmente conmovedoras que hacen referencia a las almas en el purgatorio. Estas obras reflejan rostros de s煤plica mostrando el sufrimiento y el anhelo de redenci贸n. Las expresiones de dolor esculpidas en estas caras me hacen sentir l谩stima por esas almas aunque s贸lo sean unas im谩genes.
Through these photographs, I have tried to immortalize not only the physical structures of these enclosures, but also the deep spirituality and devotion that has been put into the work of each image and that are a sample of a heritage that has passed from generation to generation, all in order to keep alive these sacred spaces.
Although I am not a devout Christian, I think that this religion contains a lot of history and culture that should be preserved, I respect the beliefs of each person and I believe that history should always prevail.
