Once upon a time in a dream
For in wakings no truth
Things are more what they seem
In a wraith than in sooth
I saw a reynard come about
And speak to me in words
It is for the rabbit I scout
And the ever lonely birds
The rabbit for my pleasure
Your lands for it I'll sweep
And the birds are a treasure
That once I catch I will keep
The first is tiring
The one I'll never catch
Be it for mere acquiring
Or solemnly to scratch
And for the latter, I strive
For a fox, birds are prized
Whether dead or alive,
Forever idolized.
