Dear friends, it is a pleasure for me to post in this community because I love animals and I like everything that is related to their welfare.
On the eve of Christmas last year 2023 I was walking through the central area of Vedado Habanero where they were doing a fair of agricultural products and suddenly I see something unexpected, a pleasant surprise! On the first floor of the emblematic Focsa building I saw a group of young people dressed in Christmas hats preparing some tables and the necessary equipment for the work they were going to do. These young people belong to BAC.
Let me tell you about it.
BAC stands for Bienestar Animal Cuba, a non-governmental organization dedicated to the protection of animals, mainly pets such as dogs and cats.
They are volunteer activists who dedicate themselves to adoption campaigns "Don't buy a pedigree dog, take one for your home". In the group there are veterinarians who perform deworming and free consultations to the pets brought to them. They carry out sterilization campaigns for dogs and cats to prevent stray animals.
They rescue stray and sick animals and find them a temporary shelter to heal them and then look for a responsible adoption. When they deliver animals for adoption they collect the data of the person who is going to adopt and then they follow up the case, they visit the house to check that the animal is really in good hands, well cared for.
Every month they go to a different municipality, they announce it through their Telegram channel and Facebook, there people go with their pet to have them dewormed or apply external chemical products against fleas and ticks. They also vaccinate against parvovirus and rabies. All medications and veterinary medical attention are free of charge. Also, they cut their nails and clean their ears.
In addition, they contribute to the education of everyone through talks and workshops on animal welfare to raise awareness about the care and attention we should give to animals.
In order to carry out this voluntary work, they receive donations of medicine, food, supplies such as surgical gloves, syringes, gauze and also monetary aid.
I want to confess that I was very happy to see them working with the animals, they assume this work with great responsibility, it is a work of pure love. The work they do is very important considering the serious problems we have, not only the economic issue but also the lack of medicines for both humans and animals, the only way to acquire medicines is through private commerce and at unattainable prices. That is why I admire them and when I have the opportunity to support them in any way I will do it.

Estimados amigos, es un placer para mí publicar en esta comunidad porque adoro a los animales y me gusta todo lo que está relacionado con su bienestar.
En la víspera de las navidades del pasado año 2023 estaba caminando por la zona céntrica del vedado Habanero donde estaban haciendo una feria de productos agropecuarios y de pronto veo algo inesperado ¡una grata sorpresa! En los bajos del emblemático edificio Focsa veo un grupo de jóvenes ataviados de gorros navideños preparando unas mesas y aditamentos necesarios para la labor que iban a realizar.
Estos jóvenes pertenecen a BAC.
Les cuento. BAC son las siglas de Bienestar Animal Cuba, son una organización no gubernamental dedicada a la protección de los animales principalmente mascotas como perros y gatos.
Son activistas voluntarios que se dedican a hacer campañas de adopción “No compres un perro de raza, lleva uno para tu casa”. En el grupo hay veterinarios que realizan desparasitaciones y consultas gratis a las mascotas que les traen. Hacen campañas de esterilización de perros y gatos para evitar que haya animales callejeros.
Rescatan animales callejeros, enfermos y le buscan un refugio temporal para sanarlos y luego buscarles una adopción responsable. Cuando entregan animales para adopción recogen los datos de la persona que va a adoptar y luego le dan seguimiento del caso, visitan la casa para comprobar que realmente está en buenas manos, bien atendido.
Cada mes ellos van a un municipio diferente, lo anuncian por su canal de Telegram y por Facebook, allí las personas van con su mascota para que los desparasiten o le apliquen productos químicos externos contra pulgas y garrapatas. También vacunan contra parvovirus y rabia. Todos los medicamentos y la atención de consulta médica veterinaria son gratuitos. También les cortan las uñas y les hacen limpieza de oídos.
Además, contribuyen a la educación de todos a través de charlas y talleres sobre el bienestar animal para crear conciencia sobre los cuidados y atenciones que debemos dar a los animales.
Para poder llevar a cabo este trabajo voluntario reciben donaciones de medicamentos, comida, insumos como guantes quirúrgicos, jeringuillas, gasa y también ayuda monetaria.
Quiero confesarles que me dio mucha alegría verlos trabajar con los animales, asumen este trabajo con mucha responsabilidad, es una obra de puro amor. Es muy importante la labor que realizan teniendo en cuenta los graves problemas que tenemos, no solo la cuestión económica sino también la falta de medicamentos tanto para humanos como para animales, la única vía de adquirir medicamentos es a través del comercio privado y a precios inalcanzables. Por eso es que los admiro y cuando tenga la oportunidad de apoyarlos de alguna forma lo haré.
