The 9/11 Memorial is located in the heart of New York, it is a tribute in memory of the nearly 3000 victims of the terrorist attacks that took place on September 11, 2001 in New York and Pennsylvania, as well as the six people killed by an attack in '93 in the same place.
It occupies half of the World Trade Center area and was built in 2011 on the place occupied by the twin towers. It is formed by two huge fountains on which striking artificial waterfalls flow, the largest in North America. These sources represent the absence of the twin towers.
In the panels of the sides of the fountains, the names of those killed in the attacks are inscribed, taking into account to carve them the relationship between them, placing next to the names of relatives, friends, co-workers.
The Memorial has 400 oak trees that were selected in nurseries in Washington and Pennsylvania, places where 9/11 planes also crashed. Among these oaks is the surviving tree, which survived the attacks and is a symbol of rebirth.
It is a special place to remember and honor the past and where the oak forest and the sound of water transmit a message of peace and tranquility !!
