I tried harnessing my shading skills using cross hatching. It's something I do often, perhaps cause I am used to drawing with scribble style.
This piece reminds me of one of a supernatural being movies I once watched - Hellboy. The ruggedity of the face and its stain look. Looking at the eyes of the portrait, it seems to be computerized - more like a mirror on the outer part of it.
This piece was done with a blue ballpoint pen on a cardboard paper using cross hatching style. Below are my steps;
