Alt-Coins are good for trading as in some cases the lower price makes it more possible for gains of double or tripple an initial investment over a relativly short period of time. For instance in a month or two a coins value could double or on the other hand half, this presents opportunity if you have faith that a coins technology / Development team and the community is strong.
