Nächster Montag, die nächsten Probleme =/= Another Monday, the next problem
Heute gab es mal wieder eine unangenehme Überraschung, die mir wohl leider noch etwas Kopfschmerzerzen bereiten wird. Wie üblich hat es mit meinem Computer zu tun, der sich nicht so verhalten hat, wie ich es wollte. Was natürlich viel zu oft vorkommt und sich leider auch nicht immer vermeiden lässt.
Diesmal geht es um ein Office-Dokument, welches nach dem Öffnen plötzlich nur nach Hashtags anzeigt und keinen Text mehr. Natürlich handelt es sich um ein eher wichtiges Dokument, welches ich heute eigentlich gerne benutzen wollte. Die letzte Backup-Kopie ist leider nicht ganz vollständig, so dass ich wohl einiges an Daten wieder neu erstellen muss.
Sämtliche Wiederherstellungsversuche sind leider fehlgeschlagen, ich habe sogar den Temp-Ornder durchforstet, um vielleicht dort noch eine Version vom Morgen zu finden. Aber alles ohne Erfolg. Angeblich wurde die letzte Änderung nicht richtig gespeichert, bevor der PC ausgemacht wurde. So hat sich mein Dokument wohl letztendlich selbst aufgehängt und kaputt geschossen und laut gleichlautenden Kommentaren gibt es wohl keine Chance, es wieder herzustellen.
Auch wenn der erste Ärger langsam verraucht, bin ich trotzdem etwas gefrustet und habe keine Lust, mich noch einmal an die gleiche Arbeit zu setzten, die ja eigentlich bereits erledigt war. Glücklicherweise ließ sich der Schaden etwas beschränken, aber ich werde wohl um ein große Stück an extra Arbeit nicht vorbeikommen. Wunderbar, ich habe auch so viel Zeit...

This afternoon I came across another unpleasant surprise, which will probably cause me some headaches in the near future. As usual, it has to do with my computer, which did not behave as I wanted it to. Which of course happens way too often and unfortunately can't always be avoided.
This time it's about an Office document, which after being opened suddenly shows only hashtags and no text anymore. Of course, it is a rather important document, which I actually wanted to use today. Unfortunately, the last backup copy is not quite complete, so I guess I have to recreate some of the data again.
All attempts to restore failed, I even searched the temp folder to find a version from this morning. But unfortunately without any success. Supposedly the last change was not saved correctly before the PC was turned off. So now I am left with a corrupted document and, according to the comments in some online forums, there is no chance to restore it.
Even though the initial anger is slowly fading away, I'm still a bit frustrated and don't feel like doing the same work again. Fortunately, I was able to reduce some of the damage, but I will probably not be able to avoid a large amount of extra work. Wonderful, since I am having too much time already...
