Hello all, happy sunday all. I am Milo Maxwell and I am a mechanical engineer by profession and practice, I am a graduate of Mechanical and Aerospace engineering from the University of uyo. Let me tell you all about some few things about automobile.

What happens when the Engine timing belt goes off?

The valves will hit the pistons on some engines when the timing belt or chain slips, skips, or breaks. These engines are commonly called interference engines. When the valves hit the piston, they will bend. The valves in freewheeling engines will not hit the piston when valve timing is off. However, the keys and keyways in the camshaft sprocket may be damaged.

  1. A faulty mass air flow sensor causes engine misfire, a faulty mass air flow meter causes engine misfire, bad plugs and bad plug coils causes engine misfire.

  1. A faulty catalytic converter causes the exhaust system to consume more fuel,

  2. When the engine timing is off, the car will start but it will not drive efficiently.

  3. Whenever the pan between the engine and the gearbox has bent or is loose, there will be a noise whenever engaging the gear drive. Remedy is to inspect between the gearbox and the engine and tighten all loosen bolts.

  4. A flywheel is present in a manual transmission drive system but a torque converter is present in an automatic transmission drive system.
