It has not been a week into the new Chaos Legion cards yet there are some major drop in prices on some of the reward cards. Specifically many of the in print Chaos Legions reward cards are at all time lows.
There are plenty of common reward cards hitting near all time lows and so goes rares, epics and legends. Why is this happening and is there potential for more drop?
New Chaos Packs
There are close to 1.07 million Chaos packs sold and many have been open. This has increase the total cards in circulation making supply of cards available a lot higher. As time progresses there will be more cards in circulation as more Chaos packs are bought and in circulation. When phase 2 is completed sometime in January the packs will hit 3 million and then a new phase of sale will begin. The new phase will be wide open sale of packs without vouchers. Phase 3 will be 12 million in total packs that do not require vouchers available for all to purchase.
If current prices of cards have drop due to more supply it can be logical to believe once phase 3 begins that there will be even greater discount in existing cards in circulation since there are more packs.
Price of DEC and SPS Fallen...
With the in game tokens DEC and SPS in a down trend it is making all assets in game to be priced less. It makes sense for cards to drop in value if the token such as DEC is the primary source of purchasing open market cards.
If the tokens continue to fall in price it would not be a surprise that the cards themselves will fall proportionally.
Conclusions
Having cards priced less is beneficial for new players and existing player that want to expand their deck collection and stay competitive in the game. It is also a great long therm investment as time has proven after every series of cards that became out of print the prices have risen to all time highs. Some cards are in more demand than others but this is an opportunity to start looking to accumulate the present in print Chaos Legions cards. It past is proven to be the outcome of the future these Chaos cards will likely be worth a lot more a year or two from now.
