This tank didn’t have to be upfront to be useful. It's a unit that work better hiding in the middle quietly keeping your team's structure while dealing a little magic damage through unique combos. That’s where Yaba’s Pickle fits perfectly.
In my view, Yaba’s Pickle shines as a secondary tank that keeps your formation stable in case your main tanks dies.while dishing out increased magic damage through combos and synergies. The mix of different abilities makes it super annoying to deal with while its magic combo setup turns it from just pure defense to a hybrid tanky damage dealer. It’s definitely a unique low mana cost unit that makes your team last longer and hit harder at the same time.

Riklauniman Adrin’eth threw the door open without warning. “Yabanius!” he shouted as he burst inside. “We’ve got a problem—”
At his cluttered workbench, Yabanius the Architect jumped in his seat. He hunched over, hands clutched to his chest and doing a terrible job of hiding… whatever he was hiding. His runi hovered at his side, its armored frame stock-still and silent.

| Use it in... |
All units have the Void ability. This rule that gives units Void that halves magic damage. This is good with Yaba's Pickle's Shield to halve all damage. Since Yaba's Pickle relies on Weapons Training for the damage, you can adjust the other unit giving Weapons Training. Instead of Moxian Rebel giving magic damage, you can use Dalthin Ironhood to give him range attack, Croire to give him melee attack or Bren Palsworn to give him both. |
Only Units & Summoners that cost 4 Mana or less may be used in battles. With only 4 mana Yaba’s Pickle fits perfectly in this rule set where cost efficiency matters most. It brings both healing and defense in a small mana pool where most tanks are squishy. Using it here with a Moxian Rebel can surprise opponents since most expect low-damage comps. |
All melee units have Sneak (targets the enemy unit in the last position). You can use Yaba's Pickle as a defense from the back against potential enemy Sneak units. With good armor, health, Heal, Dodge and the flexibility of Weapons Training, you can use him as your own Sneak unit by adding a melee Weapons Training or as a plain damage sponge at the back. |
| Avoid using it in... |
All healing abilities are removed from Units and Summoners. This one hurts the most since it directly removes the Heal ability which is a big part of Yaba’s Pickle’s durability. Without healing, its armor and 7 health can’t sustain long under constant attack. It becomes just an armored wall that eventually cracks in the battle over time. |
Non-flying Units take 2 Melee damage at the end of each round. This rule set chips away at non-flying units each turn which hurts because Yaba’s Pickle doesn’t have Flying. The constant damage may be healed but it means the Heal will just focus on restoring the earthquake damage. You’ll end up spending turns healing the earthquake damage instead of healing the real damage done by the enemy team. |
Only units with magic attacks may be used. Wands Out rule does not allow you to use Yaba's Pickle since he doesn't have any magic attack in the first place. While the Weapons Training unit have, Yaba's Pickle in itself doesn't have one. If your strategy revolves around this little green fellow then this rule will be problematic for you. |

Battle Strat: In this battle, I have a magic spam build as always because magic attacks are very overpowered. I have Moxian Rebel as my key unit giving Yaba's Pickle and Ulundin Overseer both 1 magic attack with his Weapons Training. This new found magic damage along with other units that have magic damage are then boosted by Marlai Singariel. So, now, both Ulundin Overseer and Yaba's Pickle have 2 magic damage now while having insane health to mana cost ratio making them very effective and efficient units.
Battle Summary: This is an easy win. The enemy's extra armor didn't do them any good because the magic attacks passes through armor. Their team also don't have enough damage to blast through my tanks which made their life very miserable. Overall, my lineup completely demolishes theirs even if some of their units have good focus on the back line bypassing my tanks.
