Benban Solar Park is a photovoltaic power station in Egypt. It is under construction with a planned total capacity of 1650 MWp and expected to impart an annual production of approximately 3.80 TWh. It is located in Benban in the western desert which is approximately 650 km south of Cairo. Once completed, Benban Solar Park—more than 32 contiguous solar projects across 37.2 square kilometers of Egyptian desert is likely to become the largest solar installation in the world.
Once operational, Benban is expected to avoid 2 million tons of greenhouse gas emissions in a year which is equivalent to taking about 400,000 cars off the road and going to create about 4,000 jobs in southern Egypt.
