Weekend greetings to all Hivians. Another weekend with amazing prompts.

When you knew better
Tell us about a time when you knew you shouldn't have done a thing but you did it anyway. What was it and how did it turn out for you. Write a post of at least 300 words.

Choices are inseparable part of human life. While sometimes, our choices can be right, and other times maybe wrong. It is a general truth that we all have moments when we know we shouldn't do something, but we do it anyway.

It is no doubt part of human nature, but checking the result of such decision can only lead to an unfavorable result.
I have had moments when I knew that I shouldn't do something but I stubbornly did it anyway. without minding what the aftermath of the action would be.

                 WHAT WAS IT

Something happened, it was 2017, when I gained admission. Being my first semester in school coupled with school stress, I began skipping lectures for other leisures. This got to the extent that I almost skipped one of my tests if not that I had good friends who called me at the dying minute.

It was exam period and I knew the university exam system. No room for malpractice of any kind else if caught will lead to an expulsion. It was a Data Analysis and I hated anything that has to do with calculation. I had one week to prepare for the exam but I kept shifting from one day to the next, filling in the days with one excuse to the other. I completely avoided studying for that Data Analysis examination.

The day of the exam came and I picked my writing materials and left for it. Feeling so tense knowing I wasn't prepared. That was when I realized that failing a course will affect my grade.

When I saw the exam questions, I knew I was done for. I struggled with my writing materials until everyone submitted, I left my seat and handed my answer sheet to the lecturer feeling angry and disappointed.

HOW IT TURNED OUT FOR ME

Just as expected, as the result was released, mine was a fail. In my department, once you fail a course, you will be given another chance to write again and if the second attempt still fails, the person will be transferred to another department with no chance of making a choice of where to be transferred to, the heads of department will make the choice.

Truly, I felt so ashamed of myself for allowing procrastination to take the best of me. I learned the hard way as I was left to write the course again. The fear of being transferred to another department made me change my habit of procrastination because I didn't want previous mistakes to repeat.

I burnt my candle and studied effectively as I ought to. It was a nice experience this time as I realized that the course wasn't really as difficult as I saw it in the first attempt as my failure was as a result of no prior preparation. After the second sitting, I passed with a good grade.

At last, I learnt that making the right decision at the right time saves us from negative consequences and avoiding procrastination is a stepping stone to a well defined future.
