" It was there and now it's nowhere to be found!! Why would a rat be inside the kitchen". These were tricky questions of Lawrence in order to steal things in the kitchen. A young stubborn boy who won't let his mum drink water and keep the jar.
Lawrence is a young boy who lost his father at a tender age, surviving with Bianca his mother. Lawrence is known in the Umu community to be very stubborn, wayward, he wouldn't listen to anybody's advice, he does whatever pleases him. Due to his behaviors, people doubt if his mother is giving him all the parental guides he needs.
One night, after they had their dinner, Bianca switched off the lights for them to sleep. Lawrence, after waiting in bed silently for his mother to sleep, sneaked out of his bed, tiptoed into the kitchen, turned on the light, opened the freezer and started consuming the fruits in it.
From stealing at home, it grew to stealing outside. Lawrence will steal people's things, disrespect his elders,bully children.
All efforts put forth by Bianca to guide him uprightly was like pouring water on concrete.
People keep telling his mother to caution him. Bianca will keep talking whether Lawrence hears or not but she wouldn't just stop guiding him in the right way to go.
Parents warned their kids to abstain from Lawrence as there is no good behavior in him. Even with all the abstinence,that didn't bother Lawrence.
Miss Patricia, Lawrence's class teacher angrily visited Lawrence house to tell his mother how he stole the money she left in her bag to visit the principal's office. Lawrence livestyle has made everybody point fingers at him when anything gets missing.
Bianca got worried and advised him, "people coming to my house daily to tell me how u smuggled their things is embarrassing,I have been teaching you all you need,we do devotional daily for spiritual growth yet no sign of improvement,am getting sick of all these".Lawrence mom said.
Bianca started thinking about his son, which led to her being sick, after all efforts in order for her to recuperate were to no avail, she passed out.
It was like a shock to Lawrence, no one to call mother. He cried for his mother to come back to live but death stings only once.
"Lawrence, I know you will be very sad but I want you to turn a new leaf, this will make me very happy". Bianca said
"You have been a good mother to be and am happy you are always by my side, I will always abide by your guides" Lawrence replied.
Mom, am sorry I have not been that good son who listens to all the guides you have been giving...
Then he woke up only to discover it was all a dream.
Looking at the ticking clock on the wall, it was half past 2AM. Lawrence made up his mind to follow all the good things his mother had been teaching him. These guides helped Lawrence turn a new life and become a better person.
After his mother's burial, his uncle, seeing the positive changes in his life,took him with him and everybody that knew Lawrence was surprised at how his behaviors, life had changed.
