🍵 Time for a mocha and drawings

I might take that saying, "you always return to where you were happy", a bit too seriously, but how could you not be happy in a café like Carbone? As I told you last week (and in previous weeks too), this place has become my favorite, and I won't rest until I've tried all the different types of coffee they offer. This cloudy afternoon, I decided to get a mocha because I'd been wanting to try theirs for weeks, so the chill in the air and the urge to do some coloring were the perfect excuse.

The café was empty at that moment. Only Juss and Paola (the wonderful baristas) and the owners, a very pleasant middle-aged couple, were there. I ordered my coffee and immediately pulled out my sketchbook to try and finish a drawing I've been trying to complete for weeks. Maybe the coffee's inspiration was just what I needed to finish it, who knows?

But okay, let's get down to business: the mocha. I always go to Carbone with complete confidence because I know they'll never let me down, and indeed, they didn't. Since becoming a lover of good coffee, I've felt that the mocha is a total balm for the soul. It's not 100% coffee, but it's not 100% hot chocolate either—it's the best of both worlds! And perhaps that's why it feels like a warm hug for your heart. The chocolate they use here, like the coffee beans, is locally sourced and top-of-the-line, like the KKO Real brand, which is why paying for this quality coffee is never a waste of money.

I sat for a while, immersed in my strokes on the paper, completely enveloped by the aroma of good coffee and the relaxing playlist the girls were playing to set the mood. Before leaving, the owner jokingly told the girls to keep the music playing because she (meaning me) was painting and needed to concentrate. I laughed politely and thanked her, you know, cheerfully, as I always am. This prompted Mr. Carbone (the owner) to kindly ask if I could show him what I was sketching on the pages because he was curious. And since I love showing off my drawings, I happily showed them both several pages from my sketchbook. I had a brief but pleasant conversation with them about art supplies and where I buy them, and as they said goodbye, they welcomed me back, making this café my favorite place to go and draw.

See? It's these little moments that make me love going out to explore and enjoy new places. There's nothing more beautiful and pleasant than savoring a good coffee in a space where you can also meet wonderful people who open their doors to that little corner of the city where you find peace and disconnect from the daily grind. Puede que yo me tome bastante en serio aquella frase que dice: uno siempre vuelve a donde fue feliz, pero es que ¿cómo no ser feliz en una cafetería como Carbone? Tal y como te conté la semana pasada (y en semanas anteriores también), este lugar se ha convertido en mi favorito y no me quedaré demasiado tranquila hasta probar los diferentes tipos de café que ofrecen. Para esta tarde nublada quise ir por un mocaccino porque desde hace semanas estaba deseando probar el que preparan en esta cafetería, así que el frío de la tarde y las ganas de querer colorear un rato fueron la excusa perfecta para cumplir con esto.

La cafetería estaba sola para aquel momento. Sólo se encontraban Juss y Paola (las maravillosas baristas) y los dueños del local, una pareja de esposos de mediana edad bastante agradables. Pedí mi café y en seguida saqué mi libreta de bocetos para intentar terminar un dibujo que llevo semanas tratando de concluir. Quizás la inspiración del café era lo que necesitaba para terminar con mi dibujo, ¿quién sabe?

Pero ok, a lo que vinimos: el moca. Yo siempre voy 100% confiada a Carbone porque sé que jamás me defraudará y, en efecto, no me defraudó. Desde que me convertí en una amante del buen café, he sentido que el mocaccino es una total cura para el alma. No es 100% café, pero tampoco es 100% chocolate caliente, ¡es lo mejor de ambos mundos! y quizás por eso se siente como un abrazo cálido a tu corazoncito. El chocolate que emplean aquí, al igual que el grano de café, es de origen nacional y de alta gama como el de la marca KKO Real, por eso es que pagar por este café de calidad nunca será un desperdicio de dinero.

Estuve un rato sentada, sumergida en mis trazos sobre el papel envuelta por completo entre el aroma del buen café y el playlist relajante que las muchachas tenían reproduciendo para ambientar el lugar. La dueña del local, antes de irse, les dijo en tono gracioso a las muchachas que mantuvieran la buena música porque ella (osea, yo) se encontraba pintando y necesitaría concentración. Me reí cortésmente y le dí las gracias, tu sabes, alegremente como soy yo. Esto dio pie para que el Sr. Carbone (el dueño) me preguntara amablemente si podía enseñarle lo que estaba plasmando en las hojas porque le daba algo de curiosidad. Y como a mí me encanta mostrar las cosas que dibujo/pinto, con la mejor disposición le mostré a ambos varias páginas de mi cuaderno de arte. Entablé con ellos una conversación breve, pero agradable, sobre materiales de arte y dónde los compro y ellos al despedirse me dieron la bienvenida para seguir tomando a esta cafetería como mi lugar predilecto para ir a dibujar un rato.

¿Lo ves? por este tipo de pequeños momentos es que me gusta salir un rato a conocer, recorrer y disfrutar de los lugares. No hay nada más bonito y agradable que poder degustar de un buen café en un espacio donde también puedes conocer gente maravillosa que te abren las puertas a ese pequeño rincón de la ciudad en donde encuentras calma y desconexión de la rutina. Esta ha sido una mis nuevas experiencias acompañadas por el café...¡nos veremos en la próxima!
